Day Lillies

I must apologize for the delay in getting up the third installment of my Route 66 series – The Mother Road.  Between catching up at work, and then accompanying my wife to her Arabian Horse Show Region 4 Championships last week in Nampa, Idaho, I have just not had time. Many of the photos for the next installment are edited now, but I really need some writing time.

So I decided to make a quick post of some flowers in our backyard. This was one of the first shots out of a new camera.

These are some day lillies that my wife planted in our backyard. It’s the first real photo out of my new camera.

While I totally love my Nikon D500 system, it can be heavy and cumbersome at times with its multiple lenses. I have wanted a more simple and lightweight “point and shoot” camera for those times when I want to travel light, but then I am picky. I like a lot of control in my shooting, so after a couple of years of thought and study, I picked up a Nikon Coolpix P950.

I thought being a Nikon it would be familiar and easy to learn. Ha ha!  No, it’s really nice, but there is a lot to learn. The controls and menus are really different. However, I am beginning to be able to make some nice images. So much for “simple”.

This coming week should give me some writing time, so don’t give up on part III of The Mother Road. She’s coming.

Thanks for being patient, and I hope you enjoy my flower shot.
