The Black Bird

In my previous post, I showed you a couple of photographs of some Elk I saw while I was driving home from a trip to Colorado’s Rocky Mountain National Park back in October of 2010.

While I was in the park beginning my explorations, I saw this cool bird on a tree branch near the road.

Honestly, I cannot recall what this bird is. I don’t know if it was a juvenile Magpie, or a type of blackbird.

He was perfectly posed for me, and fortunately I had my 70-300mm zooms lens. It is a Tamron lens with macro focus capability that doesn’t get used enough. I don’t think that it is as super sharp as many of the photos come out just a bit soft. But I am picky. It did, however, give me the ability to really zoom in on the little guy without scaring him off.

Anyway, I snapped this photograph of this cool black bird. But I have no idea what it is. Hopefully one of you bird experts can tell me what is in my photograph. Again, it was mid October in 2010 in Rocky Mountain National Park. Hopefully, that will help with identification.

Honestly, I would love to know what my little friend is.

Thanks for taking time to visit my blog, and I hope you enjoy great days and good health.

  2. I love birds. We have a Cardinal that seems to have taken up residence in a square bale of hay out behind the house. I won’t move the hay bail because I know he depends on it for life. What beautiful creatures!
